KOTSAY TO BOSTON
The Boston Red Sox acquired outfielder Mark Kotsay from the Atlanta Braves for outfielder Luis Sumoza.
What does it give the Boston Red Sox
Kotsay was added to help with Boston's current injury woes in the outfield. With J.D. Drew on the DL, Kotsay will likely share time in center field with Coco Crisp, while leadoff man Jacoby Ellsbury will probably see most of his at-bats in right field during Drew's absence.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
Sumoza is an intriguing long-range prospect for the Braves, who already have several youngsters on the club--and several more on the way. Still, he's only 20 so there's plenty of time for Sumoza to develop into a capable major leaguer.
