POTEET DEALT TO BALTIMORE
The Baltimore Orioles acquired pitcher Cody Poteet from the Chicago Cubs for cash.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles bolster their pitching depth with the addition of Poteet. The 30-year-old right hander can pitch as a starter or reliever, which makes him a versatile depth option in the minors. He will join Baltimore's Triple-A affiliate but could earn a call up sometime this season if he performs well there.
What does it give the Chicago Cubs
Poteet was actually the only player Chicago got back in the Cody Bellinger trade this off-season. Even so, that was more of a salary dump, and Poteet was just competing for a roster spot in his brief time with the Cubs. They will move along here with some cash coming back from the Orioles.
Fantasy impact
If Poteet sees any time in the MLB this season, it will likely be in long relief or as a spot starter. That will keep him off the fantasy radar.
