BRAVES BRING IN FAIRCHILD
The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Stuart Fairchild from the Cincinnati Reds for cash.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
Fairchild provides the Braves with outfield depth, speed and good defense. The 29-year-old could get some playing time against left-handed pitching, but he is unlikely to fill more than a bench role in Atlanta. He will also have to compete with Bryan De La Cruz and Eli White for at-bats.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
The Reds are taking a look at other outfielders this season, which led them to designate Fairchild for assignment on opening day. They were able to get some cash in return from the Braves, as Fairchild can be a useful bench player for Atlanta moving forward.
Fantasy impact
This trade will not have much fantasy impact, as Fairchild will likely remain a part-time player with the Braves. At best, his stolen base ability could make him an occasional streamer in deep leagues.
