PRIESTER MOVED TO MILWAUKEE

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Quinn Priester from the Boston Red Sox for outfielder Yophery Rodriguez, a Competitive Balance Round A draft pick in 2025, and a player to be named later or cash considerations.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee's pitching staff has been battling injuries to start the 2025 season, so Priester will add some much-needed depth. A right-handed starter, he hasn't been effective in the MLB so far (6.23 ERA in 99.2 IP), but he was still a good prospect fairly recently. The 24-year-old also had an impressive K/BB ratio in the minors last year. This could be a smart pick-up, if Priester can prove himself in the starting rotation.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
Rodriguez, a 19-year-old outfielder, headlines the return for Boston. He was one of Milwaukee's better hitting prospects, so he will strengthen the offense coming up in the organization. The Red Sox also secured a high draft pick and a player to be named later. It is a solid haul, but there is risk here while Priester could make the jump to the MLB soon. Still, Boston's pitching depth allowed them to take that chance.

Fantasy impact
Priester's early MLB results have not made him an advisable play in any fantasy format. However, he will be worth a look whenever he gets his next chance with the Brewers. He gets a definite boost from this trade, too, joining a team that may need to rely on him in the short term.
