Robert provides the Phillies with bullpen depth. A right-handed reliever, he has posted solid numbers in recent Minor League seasons, but has only appeared in four MLB games (all with Texas in 2024). The 30-year-old could earn a look with Philadelphia if he continues to pitch well. He was optioned following the trade.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
Robert had been in the Rangers organization since they drafted him in 2017, but he never secured a job in their MLB bullpen. Texas was able to acquire a younger pitcher, Segura, in return. The 20-year-old is early in his development and might have more a future with the Rangers than Robert did.
