The Baltimore Orioles acquired pitcher Luis F. Castillo from the Seattle Mariners for cash.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
Castillo adds depth to Baltimore's pitching staff, which has really struggled in 2025. The right-hander returned to the MLB this year after two seasons in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball league. He earned a look on Seattle's roster, but really struggled in two starts. Perhaps he can get back on track in the minors with the Orioles.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
Castillo looked like an interesting addition for the Mariners. They'd brought him in on a minor-league contract, but after two disastrous MLB starts (7 IP, 12 H, 6 ER, 7 BB, 5 K), they designated him for assignment. Seattle will move on with cash from Baltimore.
Fantasy impact
This trade has no fantasy impact. Castillo will need to prove himself against MLB hitters before earning any consideration in fantasy leagues.
