CONNOR JOE JOINS THE REDS

The Cincinnati Reds acquired outfielder/first baseman Connor Joe from the San Diego Padres for pitcher Andrew Moore and cash considerations.

What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
Joe gives the Reds a useful depth hitter. The veteran is unlikely to see a lot of playing time, but he can platoon against LHP and play first base or a corner outfield spot. Joe always has a good OBP, too, so he is a solid addition to Cincinnati's bench.

What does it give the San Diego Padres
The Padres have lots of depth on offense, so Joe was an expendable player on the 40-man roster. In return, they got some cash and Moore, a 25-year-old relief pitcher. He has posted impressive strikeout numbers in the minors but also far too many walks. He'll now get a fresh start, and San Diego must like his potential.

Fantasy impact
This trade won't have a fantasy impact. Joe won't get enough at-bats with the Reds, while Moore has still yet to pitch above Double-A ball.
