BOSTON BRINGS IN NODA
The Boston Red Sox acquired first baseman Ryan Noda from the Los Angeles Angels for cash.
What does it give the Boston Red Sox
In Noda, the Red Sox add a depth first baseman with some MLB experience. The 29-year-old can hit for power and get on base, but he really struggles with strikeouts. Noda was optioned to Triple-A Worcester following the trade. He might be able to earn a call up if he can improve at the plate after a fresh start. Boston hasn't got much production at 1B with Triston Casas and Romy Gonzalez out with injuries.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels claimed Noda off waivers from the Athletics in November, but he did not appear in an MLB game with them. They designated him for assignment after he posted an ugly .148 AVG with 53 SO in 115 AB to start the Triple-A season. The Red Sox sent some cash to LA in return.
Fantasy impact
This trade is unlikely to have a fantasy impact. Noda hasn't appeared in an MLB game since the 2024 season, and he is slumping in the minors. He'd really need to it around to be considered in fantasy leagues.
