What does it give the Atlanta Braves
Ornelas provides the Braves organization with infield depth. The 25-year-old has limited upside on offense, but he can defend at multiple positions, which makes him a versatile addition in the minors. Ornelas might get a look as a bench player with the Braves at some point this season.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
Ornelas was a third-round pick by the Rangers in 2018, so it is a little disappointing to see him go only for cash. Still, Texas designated him for assignment just before this trade. He wasn't going to be a fit on their MLB roster.
