CIVALE SENT TO THE WHITE SOX
The Chicago White Sox acquired pitcher Aaron Civale and cash from the Milwaukee Brewers for first baseman Andrew Vaughn.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
In Civale, the White Sox add a serviceable veteran starter to their rotation. The right-hander is home-run prone, but he typically manages a passable ERA. Civale should be able to cover innings for Chicago, who has relied on younger starters much of the season. He had a 4.91 ERA in 5 starts with Milwaukee this year.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers were planning to move Civale to the bullpen, and he requested a trade as a result. They have lots of pitching depth, so they stocked up at first base in this deal for Vaughn. The 27-year-old showed promise as a power-hitter for the White Sox, but he regressed in 2024 and was demoted after a cold start this year. He'll provide depth at Triple-A for now.
Fantasy impact
This trade won't impact fantasy baseball much. Civale only has value in deeper leagues, and he won't get a boost from joining the White Sox. Vaughn appears likely to stay in the minors unless the Brewers shake-up their MLB roster. He could have some longer-term value though, so keep an eye on him if he gets called up.
