ROYALS ADD ADAM FRAZIER, AGAIN
The Kansas City Royals acquired infielder/outfielder Adam Frazier from the Pittsburgh Pirates for infielder Cam Devanney.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
In Frazier, the Royals bring in a veteran depth player with versatility. The 33-year-old can play multiple infield and outfield positions, and he spent last season in Kansas City, too. He should now fill a bench role as the Royals try to push for the playoffs in the second half of the season.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates are well out of contention as the trade deadline approaches, so they will take a look at a younger infielder in Devanney. The 28-year-old has yet to make his MLB debut, but he has put up some decent offensive numbers in recent minor-league seasons. He should now have a better chance at his first call-up with Pittsburgh.
Fantasy impact
This trade won't impact fantasy baseball. Frazier should only be a part-time player with the Royals, while Devanney is still trying to earn his first MLB opportunity.
