The Miami Marlins acquired pitcher Michael Petersen from the Atlanta Braves for cash.
What does it give the Miami Marlins
Petersen gives the Marlins some extra pitching depth. The right-hander has moved around quite a bit this season, allowing 3 runs in 6.2 IP over 4 MLB games along the way. It will be his second stint in Miami's organization, and Petersen will begin at Triple-A. He could get a look in the Marlins bullpen if they run into injuries this season.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves acquired Petersen in a similar trade for cash earlier this season. Atlanta has been giving looks to many different relievers, and they ended up designating Petersen for assignment while he was in the minors. They will now get some cash back from Miami.
