FAIRCHILD TRADED TO TAMPA BAY
The Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder Stuart Fairchild from the Atlanta Braves for cash.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
In Fairchild, the Rays add a speedy depth outfielder who can hit left-handed pitching. The 29-year-old is now onto his third team this season, but he offers some value in a platoon or bench role. Perhaps he will be a better fit in Tampa Bay, especially if they end up moving any outfielders at the trade deadline.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
Fairchild spent a few months with the Braves but did not see much playing time. They acquired him for cash in a similar deal early in the season, and will now move on with cash coming back from the Rays here.
Fantasy impact
Fairchild could be worth keeping an eye on if he gets more playing time with Tampa Bay. But for now he is not relevant in fantasy baseball.
