TRISTAN GRAY GOES TO TAMPA BAY
The Tampa Bay Rays acquired infielder Tristan Gray from the Chicago White Sox for cash.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
Gray provides the Rays with infield depth, as they deal with injuries and move on from Coco Montes (who was designated for assignment to make room for Gray on the 40-man roster). Tampa Bay is Gray's third team this season, and he has yet to appear in an MLB game this year. He is not much of a threat at the plate, but the Rays might give him a look in a bench role at some point this season. He spent several years in their organization earlier in his career.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Gray spent 2025 at Triple-A in the White Sox organization, hitting .270 with 9 home runs and 44 runs batted in. Chicago, however, has younger players and prospects they are taking a look at amid their rebuild, so Gray was not a priority on the roster. They received cash in return from Tampa Bay.
