HICKLEN HEADS TO PHILADELPHIA
The Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Brewer Hicklen from the Detroit TIgers for cash.
What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
Hicklen provides the Phillies with some extra outfield depth. The 29-year-old has primarily been a Minor Leaguer, but he did pick up two hits in his lone MLB appearance this season. He can steal bases and hit for some power, though strikeouts are a problem for him. Hicklen might get a look in a bench role this season if Philadelphia runs into injuries. They optioned him to Triple-A after the trade.
What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers acquired Hicklen in a similar trade for cash earlier this season. Detroit's roster has a good amount of outfield depth, though, so they designated him for assignment around some pitching staff transactions. They will lose some depth in the minors but added cash from the Phillies.
Fantasy impact
This trade won't have a fantasy impact. Hicklen has some interesting tools, but he has yet to earn an extended look in the big leagues.
