HARRISON BADER BROUGHT IN BY PHILLY

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Harrison Bader from the Minnesota Twins for outfielder Hendry Mendez and pitcher Geremy Villoria.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
Bader provides the Phillies with outfield depth and solid defense. The Gold Glove-winner was also having a decent season at the plate in Minnesota, hitting .258 with 12 home runs and 10 steals in 96 games. Bader might become more of a platoon player in Philadelphia, but he could also challenge outfielders like Max Kepler and Brandon Marsh for playing time.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
The Twins are selling at the trade deadline, and Bader was a prime candidate to be moved. In this return, Mendez is the more notable prospect, giving the Twins a younger outfielder in the system. As for Villoria, he is just 16 years old and was signed out of Venezuela earlier this year. These two should have more of a future in Minnesota's organization than Bader, who was on an expiring contract.

Fantasy impact
Bader is unlikely to benefit from this trade, as he may not be an everyday player in Philadelphia. His fantasy value was limited to begin with, so there should be better options. Minnesota's new prospects are a ways away from earning an MLB call-up, so they can be ignored for now.
