MULLINS MOVED TO THE METS

The New York Mets acquired outfielder Cedric Mullins from the Baltimore Orioles for pitchers Raimon Gomez, Anthony Nunez and Chandler Marsh.

What does it give the New York Mets
In Mullins, New York adds a veteran outfielder with good power-and-speed ability. The 30-year-old is having a bounce-back year with 15 HR and 14 SB through 91 games. Center field has been a weak spot in the Mets lineup this season, so Mullins should see lots of playing time there. He may be a rental, but he is a quality upgrade for the first-place Mets.

What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles are retooling amid a disappointing season. They did well adding three young pitchers here, including Gomez, a noted hard-thrower. He has struggled with walks, however, so he could benefit from this change of scenery. Nunez is an intriguing right-hander who recently converted to pitching, while Marsh is a reliever still at High Single-A ball. None of the trio is a highly-ranked prospect, but they will provide some added potential to the organization.

Fantasy impact
Mullins should get a small boost, joining the high-scoring Mets offense. They do have a deeper lineup than the Orioles, so he may have to impress to keep an everyday role, but Mullins should remain a solid contributor after this trade. The new Orioles pitchers, meanwhile, are not on the fantasy radar for now.
