MATT MANNING MOVED TO PHILLY
The Philadelphia Phillies acquired pitcher Matt Manning from the Detroit Tigers for outfielder Josueth Quinonez.
What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies traded starter prospect Mick Abel in another deal, so Manning could provide some of the missing depth in the starting rotation–though Manning does not possess Abel's upside. Manning looks like a security blanket.
What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers obviously felt comfortable enough with their starting pitching depth to move on from Manning at this time. Quinonez is a teenager and promising outfielder for the distant future. He will probably need several years in order to fully develop.
Fantasy impact
Neither Manning for the present, nor Quinonez for the future, are great fantasy options at this time. Both might become more viable at some point, but not now.
