Marrero gives the Orioles a versatile player who had an uncharacteristically slow start to the season with the Royals. This trade may be just what he needs to kickstart his bat. With so many injuries in the outfield this year, Marrero can help the O's there and he can also fill in anywhere else on the diamond.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
Maestrales is a switch-infielder who's almost 26 and was playing A-ball in the Orioles' system, but was hitting very well and showing great plate discipline. He's a depth acquisition but could be a late-bloomer.
