The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired center Daniel Theis and a second-round draft pick in 2031 from the New Orleans Pelicans for cash considerations.

What does it give the Oklahoma City Thunder
With Isaiah Hartenstein coming back from injury, and star center Chet Holmgren still sidelined, the Thunder did well to add some more depth at the pivot position with veteran Theis. He is an insurance policy at this point.

What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans were motivated to dump the contract of Theis, which is why they also surrendered a second-rounder in '31 in this deal. The cash considerations are likely related to New Orleans paying a portion of Theis's salary.
