BANE MOVED TO THE MAGIC
The Orlando Magic acquired guard/forward Desmond Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies for guard/forward Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, guard Cole Anthony, a first-round draft pick in 2025 (No. 16 overall), a first-round draft pick in 2026, a first-round draft pick in 2028, a first-round draft pick in 2030 and the right to swap first-round draft picks in 2029.
What does it give the Orlando Magic
In Bane, the Magic land a huge upgrade for the shooting guard position. Bane is an all-around performer: he scores, can rebound and also distribute the basketball. He can play multiple positions, too. This move is a terrific deal for the Magic, a team that is clearly on the rise in the NBA.
What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
According to reports, the Grizzlies could be blowing it up this summer. The first domino has fallen in the form of Bane. In return, Memphis gets back a couple of serviceable guards in Caldwell-Pope and Anthony, plus FOUR first-round draft picks and a potential first-round pick swap. That is a great haul.
Fantasy impact
Bane's fantasy value should remain strong after the move from Memphis to Orlando. Both Caldwell-Pope and Anthony are decent guards but their statuses for 2025-26 is now in flux. Keep an eye on both players because they may be once again be on the move this summer.
