HOLIDAY HEADS TO PORTLAND
The Portland Trail Blazers acquired guard Jrue Holiday from the Boston Celtics for guard Anfernee Simons.
What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
Back in 2023, the Trail Blazers acquired Holiday from Milwaukee as part of the Damian Lillard trade. However, they sent him to Boston a few days later. This time, it appears Portland finally got their man in the veteran point guard. A staunch defender and leader, Holiday should really help the young Blazers in 2025-26.
What does it give the Boston Celtics
For the Celtics, this trade appears to be strictly a cost-cutting measure. Holiday was a huge part of Boston's championship run in 2024, but the team decided to reduce their payroll here. Simons is a solid player who is nine years younger than Holiday. Therefore, Simons could be a player Boston keeps around for years to come.
Fantasy impact
Simons could shine in Beantown, especially if Jayson Tatum remains out of the lineup for a large portion of 2025-26 due to injury. Keep an eye on him. As for Holiday, he is not likely to be more than a complementary piece for the young Trail Blazers.
