PORZINGIS PICKED UP BY ATLANTA

In a three-team trade, the Atlanta Hawks acquired center/forward Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round draft pick in 2026 from the Boston Celtics; Boston acquired forward Georges Niang and a second-round draft pick in 2031 from the Hawks, and cash considerations from the Brooklyn Nets; and Brooklyn acquired guard Terance Mann and a first-round draft pick in 2025 (No. 22 overall) from the Hawks.

What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
For Atlanta, Porzingis adds a lot of scoring and rebounding to the squad. The oft-injured big man should team with youngsters Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher and Onyeka Okongwu up front–which looks like a formidable group going into the 2025-26 campaign.

What does it give the Boston Celtics
For Boston, dumping Porzingis appears to be part of the plan to reduce payroll this off-season. Niang is a serviceable forward who can provide some scoring off the bench. However, this deal creates more holes in the Celtics' starting lineup. What comes next for the 2023-24 champions?

What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
The Nets were included in this trade in order to make the money work for the Hawks. Therefore, Brooklyn absorbed Mann in order to receive the first-rounder from Atlanta. As things stand, it does not appear as if the Nets will be competitive in 2025-26.

Fantasy impact
Porzingis could have greater fantasy value in Atlanta, as opposed to being more of a complementary piece in Boston. However, his injury history is lengthy. Buyer beware. Niang and Mann are off the fantasy radar for the time being.
