JOHNSON FOR PORTER
The Denver Nuggets acquired forward Cameron Johnson from the Brooklyn Nets for forward Michael Porter Jr and a first-round draft pick in 2032.
What does it give the Denver Nuggets
This is an interesting trade between two quality players. Johnson might have to take a step back in terms of his offensive contributions while a member of the Nuggets, since Denver's offense clearly runs through center Nikola Jokic. That said, he may be a better scoring fit than Porter Jr.
What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
The Nets were able to land a versatile player and a first-round pick in exchange for Johnson, so that is good value. Porter Jr. has greater experience in big games than Johnson has, so that could prove to be invaluable for Brooklyn's young roster. The first-rounder in '32 is well down the road.
Fantasy impact
Both Johnson and Porter Jr. remain valuable fantasy assets. Johnson's stock may dip a bit now that he is behind Jokic in Denver, while Porter Jr. may take on greater offensive responsibilities in Brooklyn. Therefore, Porter Jr.'s value is on the rise.
