DEEBO SAMUEL DEALT TO WASHINGTON

The Washington Commanders acquired wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers for a fifth-round draft pick in 2025.

What does it give the Washington Commanders
In Samuel, Washington adds a tremendously versatile receiver who can also be used as a running back if need be. He should complement quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin perfectly, making the Commanders a far more dangerous offense heading into 2025.

What does it give the San Francisco 49ers
For the 49ers, the fact that quarterback Brock Purdy needs a new contract may have been at the root of this trade. Also, Samuel had displayed some displeasure with the organization and had requested a trade recently. He will be missed by a Niners organization seeking answers.

Fantasy impact
Samuel's fantasy value should remain solid moving from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. Daniels and Purdy are completely different quarterbacks, but Samuel's versatility makes him a safe, reliable option in most fantasy formats.
