GENO SMITH SENT TO LAS VEGAS

The Las Vegas Raiders acquired quarterback Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks for a third-round draft pick in 2025 (92nd overall).

What does it give the Las Vegas Raiders
Like several other NFL teams this off-season, the Raiders were in desperate need of a starting quarterback. Enter Smith, who has been a solid contributor in Seattle for several years and will now reunite with former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas. Expect Smith to win the starting job over Aidan O'Connell, who will likely back up Smith this season.

What does it give the Seattle Seahawks
Add the Seahawks to the list of teams that need a new starting quarterback, although rumors suggest the team traded Smith because they are likely to pursue Sam Darnold when free agency opens next week. Getting the 92nd overall selection in this year's draft, plus Darnold, would be a very good move for Seattle if it pans out. Stay tuned!

Fantasy impact
While Smith had better weapons in Seattle than what the Raiders currently sport, there is a chance that his fantasy value may stay intact in Las Vegas. There are not enough quality starting quarterbacks in the NFL these days, so Smith will be drafted in most leagues. In leagues that start two QBs, he is an easy starting option every week.
