JORDAN MASON TO MINNESOTA

The Minnesota Vikings acquired running back Jordan Mason and a sixth-round draft pick in 2025 (No. 187 overall) from the San Francisco 49ers for a fifth-round draft pick in 2025 (No. 160 overall) and a sixth-round draft pick in 2026.

What does it give the Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings re-signed veteran running back Aaron Jones earlier in the off-season, so Mason should complement Jones very well in 2025. He does not have huge upside as a runner, but productivity is the name of the game (for both Mason as well as Jones).

What does it give the San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have been moving on from several important players this off-season, so Mason is just the latest in a long line. They were able to get some draft pick compensation in return, but Mason's departure leaves a hole behind Christian McCaffrey going into the draft.

Fantasy impact
Mason should continue to be a decent handcuff in many fantasy leagues in 2025. Instead of backing up McCaffrey, he will now play second fiddle to Jones. While the latter is more durable than the former, he is not as dominant when healthy. Draft Mason in the later rounds, and even sooner if Jones is on the fantasy roster.
