MILTON III MOVED TO DALLAS

The Dallas Cowboys acquired quarterback Joe Milton III and a seventh-round draft pick in 2025 (No. 217 overall) from the New England Patriots for a fifth-round draft pick in 2025 (No. 171 overall).

What does it give the Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys allowed both Cooper Rush and Trey Lance tp leave via free agency this off-season, so they were in the market for a backup quarterback to starter Dak Prescott. Enter Milton III, who is a raw but talented passer with plenty of untapped potential. This is a very solid move by Dallas, especially considering Prescott's vast injury history.

What does it give the New England Patriots
For the Patriots, Drake Maye is their present and future starting quarterback. The team also added veteran Joshua Dobbs to back Maye up for the next two seasons. Therefore, Milton III was deemed superfluous. The Pats were able to get back some late-round draft compensation, but did New England move Milton III out too quickly?

Fantasy impact
All Prescott fantasy owners should at least consider drafting Milton III (or picking him up via waivers or free agency) in the majority of leagues due to Prescott's injury concerns. Milton III represents a solid handcuff to Prescott.
