REESE JOHNSON JOINS THE LEAFS
The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Reese Johnson from the Minnesota Wild for future considerations.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
Johnson will provide the Maple Leafs with forward depth in the minors. Toronto just moved several of their forwards in other trades, which allowed them to add Johnson for their AHL roster. He does have NHL experience too, which could make him a candidate for a call up, but he would only be a fourth-line role player if so.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
Johnson played primarily for Minnesota's AHL affiliate, but he did appear in three NHL games earlier this season. After the Wild upgraded their forward depth ahead of the trade deadline, they were willing to move Johnson only for future considerations in return.
