EVANDER KANE TO THE CANUCKS
The Vancouver Canucks acquired winger Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers for a fourth-round draft pick in 2025 (No. 117 overall).
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
For the Canucks, Kane is a hometown player with both goal-scoring prowess and grit. He takes bad penalties, which he will need to curb, but should be a top-six winger in Vancouver. Kane enters the final year of his contract, so he should be plenty motivated in 2025-26.
What does it give the Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers need to dump players to create cap space this summer, so moving on from Kane's full cap hit ($5.125 million) was critical here. Also adding the 117th overall draft pick in this year's draft should be viewed as a bonus for a team that does not have a lot of draft picks.
Fantasy impact
Kane is a good bet to put up solid regular-season numbers in 2025-26, mainly because he is getting a fresh start in his home city on the final year of his contract. Draft him in the final rounds this year.
