FREDERICK GAUDREAU GOES TO SEATTLE
The Seattle Kraken acquired forward Frederick Gaudreau from the Minnesota Wild for a fourth-round draft pick in 2025 (No. 102 overall).
What does it give the Seattle Kraken
The Kraken are adding veteran players this off-season, which is interesting because they already had plenty of veterans. Gaudreau is the latest arrival, following Mason Marchment and Joe Veleno. Gaudreau will likely slot in as a middle-six center, although he can also play on the wing.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
For the Wild, this deal is mainly about moving Gaudreau's salary off the books–a $2.1 million cap hit until 2027-2028. Clearly, GM Bill Guerin is going to be shopping for talent in the coming days. Interestingly, Gaudreau was a center for the Wild, while fellow center Marco Rossi will also likely be moved.
Fantasy impact
Gaudreau is a serviceable player who is good at killing penalties. He can fill a variety of roles on a hockey team, but his scoring acumen is inconsistent. There should be better options than Gaudreau. Pass.
