MARNER MOVED TO VEGAS!

The Vegas Golden Knights acquired winger Mitch Marner from the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Nicolas Roy,

What does it give the Vegas Golden Knights
This is a massive move by a franchise that is used to making massive moves. Marner is an elite two-way winger who can put up triple-digit points and be used in all game situations. He is being brought in because Vegas wants to win another Stanley Cup. That will be the expectation moving forward.

What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
Credit to the Maple Leafs for being able to get assets back for their pending unrestricted free agent. In exchange for signing Marner to an eight-year extension, Toronto gets veteran Roy–a gritty forward who could center Toronto's third line in 2025-26. Toronto can now move on and change their team identity.

Fantasy impact
Marner's fantasy stock may actually take a slight dip moving from Toronto to Vegas. Why? Because the Golden Knights do not have a sniper like Auston Matthews and Vegas plays a more defensive style. Keep that in mind when selecting him early on in all fantasy drafts. Roy, conversely, may see more ice time in Toronto and could be in for a slight spike in points.
