BOLDUC FOR MAILLOUX
The Montreal Canadiens acquired forward Zack Bolduc from the St. Louis Blues for defenseman Logan Mailloux.
What does it give the Montreal Canadiens
This is a very interesting trade between two players who were drafted the same year. Bolduc is a pure goal-scoring forward who adds more offensive punch to a team that already had plenty. He played center in the QMJHL but has been a winger in the pros. Regardless, Montreal could use him on the second line this season. He will also try to carve out a role on the power play, which will not be easy.
What does it give the St. Louis Blues
In Mailloux, the Blues land a quality all-around blueline prospect who should be a boon for the organization for years to come. He could begin his rookie career learning the ropes from Colton Parayko and Justin Faulk ahead of him on the depth chart. After landing Philip Broberg and Cam Fowler last season, the Blues continue to reshape their blueline by adding the talented Mailloux here.
Fantasy impact
Both Bolduc and Mailloux could benefit greatly from this trade. Bolduc is a pure goal scorer so draft him in the middle rounds with that in mind this year. As for Mailloux, the path to regular playing time may be easier in St. Louis than it was in Montreal. Draft Mailloux in all keeper leagues for the time being.
