NEDELJKOVIC SENT TO SAN JOSE
The San Jose Sharks acquired goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a third-round draft pick in 2028.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks
San Jose needed help in goal heading into the 2025-26 season and Nedeljkovic will provide just that. The serviceable veteran could share the crease in a tandem with Yaroslav Askarov. He could even get the lion's share of starts this season if he performs well–or if Askarov struggles.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The retooling Penguins have younger goaltenders such as Joel Blomqvist and Sergei Murashov vying for NHL playing time (along with Tristan Jarry), so it made sense to move Nedeljkovic for a decent asset. Pittsburgh was able to secure a third-round draft pick in 2028 here from San Jose.
Fantasy impact
San Jose allowed the most goals in the 2024-25 season, and their defense is unlikely to improve significantly this year. Avoid Nedeljkovic after this trade.
