BORDELEAU FOR BOWERS

The New Jersey Devils acquired forward Thomas Bordeleau from the San Jose Sharks for center Shane Bowers.

What does it give the New Jersey Devils
In Bordeleau, the Devils add a depth forward with some untapped potential. A second-round pick in 2020, the 23-year-old has always produced fairly well in the AHL. Still, Bordeleau was unable to keep an NHL job despite call-ups in each of the past four seasons. He could earn an opportunity in New Jersey's lineup but should spend much of the '25-26 campaign in the minors again.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
Bowers gives San Jose a center with good size but not a lot of offensive upside. The 25-year-old Bowers appeared in just four NHL contests last season, so he should become a similar depth option and AHLer for the Sharks now that he has moved to Northern California. Did they let Bordeleau go too soon? Bowers is more of a role player but that may be what San Jose is looking for at present time.

Fantasy impact
This trade will not impact fantasy hockey too much. Bordeleau may have a harder time earning a look with the Devils. But if he can finally break through, he is worth keeping an eye on. Bowers is not on the fantasy radar at all.
