JOSHUA JOINS THE MAPLE LEAFS
The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired winger Dakota Joshua from the Vancouver Canucks for a fourth-round draft pick in 2028.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
In Joshua, the Maple Leafs get a rugged winger who adds more size and gumption to the lineup. A former St. Louis Blue (as well as a former Canuck), Joshua played under current Toronto bench boss Craig Berube in St. Louis. Therefore, the adjustment should be easy for him.
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
This move by the Canucks appears to be a clear salary dump. Moving out Joshua's $3.25 million cap hit (for three more seasons) gives the team a little bit of salary cap space, which they had none of before this deal. Expect Vancouver to make another trade shortly.
Fantasy impact
While Joshua may become a good addition to the Maple Leafs, his fantasy value is somewhat limited. He will provide hits but his offensive game can be hit or miss. Pass on drafting him.
