Atlanta selected Carrasco's contract and will have him start Thursday against the Reds in Cincinnati.
Atlanta acquired Carrasco from the Yankees on Monday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
Has a great pitchers' frame (6'4", 224 pounds), a feel for pitching and the ability to dominate on the mound when he gets in a groove. Strikeouts are a big part of his game in the big leagues. Can get hit hard when he loses his command, so he needs more refinement with his pitches. Elbow issues have also been a concern. Serves up a lot of home runs when his pitches elevate.
Long Range Potential: Solid right-hander, when healthy.
