Murphy went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two walks in the opening game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Phillies.
Murphy is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.
A rare hulking specimen behind the plate, he is an outstanding athlete and great defensive catcher (despite the size to play linebacker in the NFL). Is also a skilled hitter with both plate coverage and patience, so he generally sports a good walk/strikeout ratio. His size helps him as a target for pitchers but he needs to learn how to become a better game caller and leader.
Long Range Potential: Talented, all-around catcher with good upside.
