GREGORY SOTO SENT TO THE METS

The New York Mets acquired pitcher Gregory Soto from the Baltimore Orioles for pitchers Cameron Foster and Wellington Aracena.

What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets were in need of a high-leverage left-handed reliever, and Soto gives them just that. The veteran can be inconsistent and often allows too many baserunners, but he managed a decent 3.96 ERA with 18 holds and 1 save this season with Baltimore. He should see similar late-inning work in New York's bullpen.

What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles are selling amid a disappointing season. Here, they were able to move Soto for two younger pitchers. Both Foster and Aracena are right-handers who have shown promise in the lower levels of the Minor Leagues. Soto was on an expiring contract, so Baltimore did well adding these two to their prospect pool.

Fantasy impact
Soto could get a small boost from this trade, as he should get more hold opportunities with the Mets. However, they do have a deeper bullpen, so Soto will need to pitch well to keep a high-leverage role. As for the new Orioles pitchers, both do have good strikeout ability, but they have a ways to go and are not fantasy relevant at this time.
