COULOMBE TRADED TO TEXAS
The Texas Rangers acquired pitcher Danny Coulombe from the Minnesota Twins for pitcher Garrett Horn.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
In Coulombe, the Rangers bring in a veteran left-handed reliever. The 35-year-old is having an excellent season, working to a 1.16 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 31 IP mostly in middle relief with the Twins. He should now take on a prominent role in the Texas bullpen in matchups against lefty hitters.
What does it give the Minnesota Twins
Minnesota was able to get a young left-hander back in return for Coulombe. Horn was a sixth-round pick in 2024. He has been having a strong debut as a starter in the lower levels of the minors. As the Twins sell at the trade deadline, Horn is a good pickup with potential for the organization.
Fantasy impact
Coulombe could earn more holds with the Rangers, which would give him a boost in fantasy leagues. Still, the southpaw will only have value in deeper formats, as he is not a big strikeout reliever. As for Horn, he is not on the fantasy radar at this time, but he could be worth keeping an eye on as he continues to develop.
