Mathews logged 12 points (4-9 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block over 37 minutes during Sunday's 117-105 victory over Orlando.
Matthews posted 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), two rebounds, two blocks and one assist in 14 minutes in Monday's 132-130 win over the Grizzlies.
Scoring buckets is the name of his game: he is the all-time leading scorer at Lipscomb University in Nashville during the NCAA Division I era; he is the second all-time leading scorer in Atlantic Sun history and was one of only three players to average 20-plus points in his final three years of college ball (2016-19). His frame (6'5", 204 pounds) is ideal for the shooting guard position in the NBA, though he can also play small forward. Can leap too, so he can be a factor in rebounding and also when dunking the basketball. Needs to improve his footwork when defending smaller, quicker guards. Also needs to become a more consistent basketball player, night in and night out, in order to maximize his NBA minutes.
