Following the recent release of Zack Moss, Perine and Tahj Brooks are in line to serve as the top complementary options behind top back Chase Brown, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox19.com reports.
The Bengals are slated to sign Perine to a two-year contract worth up to $3.8 million, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Super-strong for a pro tailback, helping him run through opponents. His overall quickness in short areas is above-average, and when combined with his good bulk and power he can regularly break tackles. Features pretty good speed for a guy with his size, and is explosive enough to get the job done overall. Would benefit by showing he can be a regular TD scorer, especially considering his interior power and short-yardage tools. Must also demonstrate he can be a consistent receiver out of the backfield. His lateral movement isn't top-tier, and he can seem stiff at times.
Long Range Potential: Strong, all-round solid tailback with starter tools.
