New England placed Tavai (calf) on the active/PUP list Saturday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Tavai suffered a calf injury during Monday's OTAs practice and is expected to be sidelined until training camp, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Plays the game with plenty of energy and aggression, which can work both for and against him. Has the size and lateral mobility to make an impact as an inside 'backer. Furthermore, he also has the ability to blitz up the gut to create havoc for quarterbacks. At times, he can get caught out of position because of his constant desire to make big plays. Needs to continue to work on his positioning and his consistency in order to remain on the field more.
Long Range Potential: Raw, talented linebacker with some upside.
