Etienne and Tank Bigsby have handled the bulk of the reps alongside starting QB Trevor Lawrence in training camp, relative to the rest of the Jaguars' running back corps, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
Etienne said Thursday at mandatory minicamp that new head coach Liam Coen's offense "has been getting me in a lot of space" and "always puts us in position to make plays," Garry Smits of The Florida Times-Union reports.
The electric running back, taken No. 25 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, lost his entire rookie season to injury and has to show he still has the speed and skill that made him a star at Clemson University. That includes demonstrating that the home run speed in the open field that excited NFL scouts is still there. He is an asset as a receiver out of the backfield, though he still has some learning to do about the nuances of pass protection in the NFL.
