Heinicke saw spot duty in four regular-season games, completing three of five pass attempts for 28 yards, and also rushing two times for 20 yards.
Heinicke completed his only two passes for 24 yards in Sunday's loss to the Steelers after entering the game late in the second half for Justin Herbert, who was spotted leaving the stadium in a walking boot.
The undrafted quarterback has plenty of heart; the question is whether he has the skills to thrive at football's top level. He is very mobile and unafraid to pull it down and run, but he can also break the pocket and throw on the run. He does not let the moment get too big for him but is limited physically and prone to turning the ball over.
Long Range Potential: Inconsistent but mobile quarterback.
