RAMSEY AND MORE FOR FITZPATRICK

The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired cornerback Jalen Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith and a seventh-round draft pick in 2027 from the Miami Dolphins for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a fifth-round draft pick in 2027.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Steelers
Ramsey wanted out but it took some time to get a deal done. Ramsey is still a quality cornerback, whether he plays on a boundary or in the slot, so he should help the Steelers this season. As for Smith, he adds to Pittsburgh's impressive stable of tight ends. He will likely be used in a variety of formations.

What does it give the Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins were able to deal two veterans who were not very happy in exchange for veteran Fitzpatrick, an original Dolphin who returns after several quality seasons in Pittsburgh. Miami also received a draft upgrade in '27. It is rare when three established NFL vets get traded for each other.

Fantasy impact
Smith's fantasy value could take a big hit after the move from Miami to Pittsburgh, mainly due to the numbers game. His stock will likely be tied to his ability to catch touchdown passes in the red zone. Buyer beware. Neither Ramsey nor Fitzpatrick are recommendable draft options in IDP leagues, mostly because of their ages. There should be better options.
