Cotter logged an assist, two shots on goal and nine hits in Tuesday's 5-4 double-overtime loss to the Hurricanes in Game 5.
Cotter has completed his two-game suspension Wednesday and is eligible to play in Game 1 of New Jersey's first-round series against Carolina on Sunday.
Capable of playing different roles up front, he has pushed his way into the NHL thanks to his combination of size and speed, along with a good scoring touch.
