The Guardians selected Nunez's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
Scouting Report
A converted shortstop, he has excellent feet behind the plate and above-average athleticism. Does a good job with his pitchers and is also a solid receiver. Has some home-run power and hits from the left side, which adds value in MLB. Lacks the ability to hit for average, so he is not an ideal candidate to be an everyday catcher in the big leagues. May be limited to a platoon role.
Long Range Potential: Athletic catcher.
