Boyd (6-3) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over six innings in a 2-1 victory over the Pirates. He struck out three.
Boyd didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 13-6 win over the Reds, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three batters across four innings.
Has a good pitchers' frame (6-3,215 pounds), plus great control in the minor leagues. His delivery is funky enough to deceive batters (even at the highest level). Pitches with great poise. A flyball pitcher, he can get burned by the long ball if his command isn't pinpoint (and doesn't have a dominant pitching arsenal). Will his delivery lead to injuries down the road?
Long Range Potential: Solid left-hander.
